Privacy Policy
Last updated: 9 September 2026
This policy explains what Tonefarer keeps on your device, what the advertising and attribution components built into the app collect, and what choices you have. It matches the App Privacy information shown on the app's App Store product page.
1. What stays on your device
The things the app itself remembers are written to a file inside the app's own storage on your device and are never uploaded anywhere:
- which scales you have listened to, and which ones you marked as favourites
- your ear-training quiz results: number of rounds played, best score, longest streak
- your settings: volume, haptic feedback on or off, and whether the intro cards have been shown
None of this falls into any of the categories listed in section 2. It is not sent to us, it is not sent to any advertising or analytics provider, and no one but you can read it. It is removed when you delete the app from your device. The app has no account and no sign-in, and it does not ask for access to your microphone, camera, photos, contacts or precise location.
There is no in-app button that erases this data — deleting the app is how you remove it, and doing so removes all of it.
2. What is collected through the advertising and attribution components
Tonefarer shows advertising, and it uses an attribution service to understand where installs come from. Those components collect data through their own SDKs. Below is exactly what is declared for this app, in the same two groups Apple uses on the product page.
2.1 Collected, linked to you, and used to track you
"Used to track you" means this data may be linked with data from other companies' apps and websites for advertising or advertising measurement purposes.
- Device ID — advertising identifier and similar device identifiers. Used for third-party advertising, our own advertising, analytics, and app functionality.
- Advertising Data — which ads were shown, and how they performed. Used for third-party advertising, our own advertising, analytics, and app functionality.
- Coarse Location — approximate, region-level location derived by the advertising SDKs. This is not precise location, and the app never asks you for location permission. Used for third-party advertising, our own advertising, analytics, and app functionality.
- Product Interaction — events such as an ad being displayed or closed. Used for third-party advertising, our own advertising, analytics, and app functionality.
- Performance Data — technical measurements such as load times and failure rates. Used for third-party advertising, our own advertising, analytics, and app functionality.
- User ID — an identifier generated by the attribution service for this install. Used for third-party advertising, analytics, and app functionality.
- Other Data — other technical values the advertising SDKs report, such as device model, operating system version and network type. Used for third-party advertising, our own advertising, analytics, and app functionality.
2.2 Collected, but not used to track you
- Crash Data — crash reports, linked to your identity for the purposes above. Used for analytics, app functionality, and third-party advertising.
- Other Diagnostic Data — additional diagnostic information, not linked to your identity. Used for analytics, app functionality, our own advertising, and third-party advertising.
- Other Usage Data — other usage information, not linked to your identity. Used for analytics and third-party advertising.
- Customer Support — information you choose to send us when you write to the support address below. Not linked to your identity, and used only to answer you.
3. The third-party services involved
- Adjust (Adjust GmbH) — install attribution and in-app event measurement. Adjust privacy policy
- AppLovin MAX (AppLovin Corporation) — advertising mediation. MAX passes ad requests on to the advertising networks it mediates, and those networks receive the advertising data described above under their own privacy policies. AppLovin privacy policy
We do not sell your personal information.
4. Tracking permission (App Tracking Transparency)
The first time you open Tonefarer, iOS asks whether the app may track your activity across other companies' apps and websites.
- If you allow it, the advertising components may use your device's advertising identifier, and the ads you see can be more relevant.
- If you ask the app not to track, the advertising identifier is not used for that purpose. The app keeps working exactly the same way — every feature remains available, and you will still see ads, just less relevant ones.
You can change your answer at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, and you can turn tracking requests off for all apps in the same place.
5. Children
Tonefarer is a general-audience listening and ear-training app. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, write to the address below and we will delete it.
6. Data retention and security
Data collected by the components in section 2 is retained by those providers under their own policies, linked above. Data described in section 1 lives only on your device and is protected by the operating system's standard app-sandbox protections. Anything you send to our support address is kept only as long as needed to answer you.
7. Your choices
- Answer the tracking prompt however you like, and change it later in Settings.
- Limit ad tracking system-wide in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Delete the app to remove everything described in section 1 from your device.
- Write to us at the address below with any question about your data, including a request to delete information you have sent us.
8. Changes to this policy
If the app's data practices change — for example if an advertising or analytics component is added or removed — this page and the App Store privacy information will both be updated, and the date at the top will change.
